Dear Advisors and Delegates,
It is my pleasure to formally invite you to McKennaMUN III! The conference will be held April 11-12, 2015 on Claremont McKenna College’s campus in Claremont, California. It will feature thirteen committees, ranging from an exciting summit of the International Olympic Committee to a meeting of the G20, and a crisis simulation centered around the tense events of the Vietnam War.
We founded McKennaMUN in 2013 with the aim to deliver a conference that reflects the values of our college: pragmatism, ethics, and leadership. At McKennaMUN, attendees will have the opportunity to tackle contemporary issues, but will be reminded to heed the constraints and limitations that real-world leaders face. Committee chairs have carefully chosen topics that do not have one clear solution; the complexities will require you to negotiate, compromise and build consensus - and McKennaMUN will provide delegates with all of the tools and resources to do so. This includes guest talks in every committee by university professors, thorough background guides, and a staff that will challenge delegates to explore the issue from multiple perspectives.
In only our third year, we still consider our conference to be young and capable of changing a great deal to suit your needs and desires. Consequently, we treat feedback as the cornerstone of McKennaMUN. Our highly trained staff will provide individualized comments on position papers, comprehensive guidance on resolutions, and constructive feedback on in-committee performance. At the same time, we ask all attendees - not just the delegates - to provide us with feedback so that we can continue to better ourselves and ensure that everyone enjoys an unparalleled experience at McKennaMUN.
Princeton Review ranks Claremont McKenna students as among the “Happiest Students” in the country – and we will ensure that your time on our campus is as enjoyable as ours has been. We really cannot wait to see you this April!
On behalf of the secretariat, staff and advisors of McKennaMUN III,
